ABOUT US
The Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario (the “Council”) consists of 13 International craft unions in the construction industry with a total membership of approximately 150,000 people, with locals being situated in both urban and remote regions of the province.
Workplace accidents and occupational disease affect construction workers at an alarmingly high rate. Due to the complicated nature of health and safety, as well as workplace insurance law and policy, union representatives in the building trades have historically lacked the knowledge and confidence to be able to offer quality advice and representation to their injured members.
The Ontario Building Trades Health, Safety & Prevention Resource website aims to fill that knowledge gap by providing relevant information in one place that covers a wide range of potential workplace safety issues and information including Health and Safety, WSIB, Mental Health and Research. Throughout this resource you will be able to find numerous reference documents and links to various legislation, research and forms to help give you the tools and guidance you need to make informed decisions and actionable steps when dealing with or preventing workplace incidents that may arise.
